NFL Week 3 Power Rankings

Still some pretty big swings this week. But things are beginning to settle out, too. Anyone want to argue any of the bottom 6 teams should be ranked higher?

Comments below.

Comments:

  • This is the second week in a row the Broncos have established a big lead, only to see it slip away. At least this week they didn't need the help of a last-minute score (and too-quick whistle) to get it done. One of these weeks, that's not going to work out so well.

  • The Saints have lost by a combined 7 points to the Redskins (#5) and Broncos (#3). They play the 49ers (#21) next, and should fall as a result, win or lose.

  • The Bears have lost by a combined 6 points to the Panthers (#14) and Buccaneers (#7). They play Philadelphia (#13) next, and could maintain their position with a convincing win.

  • The Cardinals move up in spite of their loss (the two teams they beat (49ers and Dolphins) both had big wins this week).

  • The Panthers and Patriots both pay a major price for falling to weak teams.

  • As predicted, the Chargers drop in spite of a big win over the Jets.

  • On the other hand, the Packers don't get any power-by-association in their big home loss to the Cowboys (and it was only a garbage-time touchdown that keeps them from falling to #19).

  • There is a major drop-off in power from the Jets (#27) to the Browns (#28).
