2009 Navigation Links

Read this for a description of APR.
Read this for some disclaimers about applying APR to the NCAA.

This is using a new margin power function (different from the function used for NFL games). This means that the power values are not comparable to the ones posted last year.

Official rankings will be added after they are published.

Comments:

  • This ranking doesn't include the Marshall @ UCF game, scheduled for Sunday night. But since both teams are down in the weeds, it shouldn't be a big deal.

  • Texas and Florida are head-and-shoulders above everyone else. There's another big drop-off between #5 TCU and #6 Texas Tech.

  • Oregon moves up to a well-earned spot at #4—they just dominated USC for the whole game.

  • In spite of the 18-point final margin, Iowa was in real trouble this weekend. At one point in the 3rd quarter, they were down 21-7, and didn't go down more thanks to the flukiest interception I've ever seen.

  • Iowa still needs to play at Ohio State in a couple weeks, so (especially given the way they played today), it's not going to be a cake-walk for them to finish unbeaten.
