NFL Week 10 Pick Results

2009 Navigation Links

Pick results for week 10.

Unanimous picks (6-4)

Correctly picked:

Saints @ Rams
Lions @ Vikings
Ravens @ Browns
Buccaneers @ Dolphins
Seahawks @ Cardinals
Bears @ 49ers

Not so much:

Broncos @ Redskins
As suspected, Chris Simms is not a good quarterback. But the Broncos were just barely beating the Redskins with Kyle Orton. I'm not sure why, but the Broncos just haven't been the same team since their bye week.

Cowboys @ Packers
This was the Packers' defense playing lights-out, setting up the offense with a 1st-and-goal for their second touchdown, and turning away the Cowboys on their last chance to answer. This was easily the Packers' most impressive defensive stand since last year's week 11 game against the Bears. If the Packers (and particularly the defense) can maintain that level of play, they should have a real chance at one of the wildcard spots in the playoffs.

Jaguars @ Jets
As observed before, to beat the Jaguars, you really have to stop Maurice Jones-Drew. And on the Jets side, Sanchez, with 2 interceptions, continues to look more like a good-but-rookie quarterback.

Falcons @ Panthers
The Falcons are now just 1-4 on the road this season, while Jake Delhomme has now gone 3 games without throwing an interception. At 4-5, the Panthers might be thinking about the playoffs now, but with games left against the Patriots, Vikings, and Saints, it's going to be tough for them to get past 8 wins.

Split Picks (APR 1-4, SRS 2-3, Line 3-2)

Chiefs (SRS) @ Raiders (APR, Line)
The Chiefs have now won 7 times in a row at Oakland. And the 2008 Lions want an asterisk next to their 0-16 record noting they never got to play the Chiefs or Raiders.

Eagles (APR, SRS) @ Chargers (Line)
What happened to the Eagles' defense? They haven't given up more than 20 points since their week 2 loss to the Saints.

Bengals (SRS) @ Steelers (APR, Line)
Does any team have a goal-line defense playing at a higher level than the Bengals right now? The Steelers had 4 drives into the red zone, and came away with field goals all 4 times. The Bengals have held their opponent to 14 or fewer points 5 times this season.

Patriots (SRS) @ Colts (APR, Line)
With the Colts down 17 points in the 4th quarter, I thought they were done. But then the Colts offense came alive (or the Patriots defense fell apart), and the Colts outscored the Patriots 21-3 In the final 14:18 of the game. Belichick is already being questioned for that late 4th-and-2 call. But after watching the Colts twice drive 79 yards in relatively short order, he had to seriously consider whether converting the 1st down as his only real chance of winning the game.

Bills (APR, SRS) @ Titans (Line)
Clearly something has lit a spark for the Titans, and they have now gone 3-0 with Vince Young as starting quarterback. But with the Texans, Cardinals, and Colts coming up, it will be very tough for them to win the next three.

Standings:
