Pick results for week 14.
Unanimous picks (10-2)
Correctly picked:
Lions @ Ravens
Rams @ Titans
Jets @ Buccaneers
Saints @ Falcons
Packers @ Bears
Panthers @ Patriots
Seahawks @ Texans
Bills @ Chiefs
Broncos @ Colts
Bengals @ Vikings
Not so much:
- Steelers @ Browns
- You can't blame the Steelers defense for this one. The Browns only had one drive longer than 36 yards, and they were shut out in the second half. But the offense never got going. Roethlisberger was sacked eight times (remarkable for a defense that had 24 sacks through 12 games).
- Cardinals @ 49ers
- Well, that was ugly. Two interceptions. Five lost fumbles. I wish I could say it's the Cardinals' worst loss in a long time, but you only need to look back to week 8 to find an example of the Cardinals hemorrhaging turnovers, and losing to a team well out of the playoffs as a result.
Split Picks (APR 3-1, SRS 4-0, Line 1-3)
- Chargers (APR, SRS) @ Cowboys (Line)
- Another missed field goal comes up big for the Cowboys. But their defense needs to take a big piece of the blame. After the offense drove 99 yards for a tying touchdown, the defense desperately needed a stop to give the offense a chance for a go-ahead score. Instead, the Chargers had two long drives, scored 10 points, and put the game out of reach.
- Eagles (APR, SRS) @ Giants (Line)
- The Giants certainly had their chances in this game. But lost fumbles were the back-breaker. One returned for a touchdown, another essentially nullifying McNabb's one interception, and another snuffed out their last hope of a tying score.
- Dolphins (APR, SRS) @ Jaguars (Line)
- Another case where the Jaguars struggle when Maurice Jones-Drew can't get going, and David Garrard couldn't pick up the slack.
- Redskins (SRS, Line) @ Raiders (APR)
- There can't be much doubt any more that JaMarcus Russell is just not the answer for the Raiders at quarterback. The Raiders gained just 19 yards on offense on six drives when he was in. That's not even acceptable for a backup.
